Z1RO Named Finalist in the Sustainability Awards 2026 by Packaging Europe

What does the post-plastic era look like?

We are proud to share that Z1RO has been selected as a finalist in the Sustainability Awards 2026 by Packaging Europe in the “Start-Up – New Materials” category.

For Z1RO, this recognition is especially meaningful. Packaging Europe is one of the trusted voices covering packaging innovation, sustainability and the future of materials. Being recognized by its Sustainability Awards places Z1RO among companies working on some of the most important material challenges in the industry today.

The selection also reflects a broader shift happening across packaging. For decades, the industry has relied heavily on plastic, wood-based materials and increasingly complex supply chains. But the next generation of packaging will require a different logic: materials that reduce dependency on fossil resources and virgin wood, perform in real applications and can scale beyond laboratory concepts.

At Z1RO, we are developing molded packaging from non-wood biomass such as fallen leaves, hemp, bamboo and agricultural residues. Our work focuses on transforming abundant, underutilized biomass streams into premium, functional and scalable packaging solutions for global brands.

This is not only about replacing plastic. It is about asking what materials should define the next stage of packaging — and how waste streams, agricultural residues and alternative fibers can become high-performance products.

Being named a finalist in the “Start-Up – New Materials” category strengthens our belief that the future of packaging will be shaped by better material decisions: fewer unnecessary resources, smarter feedstocks, stronger design logic and solutions that combine environmental impact with business viability.

We are honored to be recognized among leading sustainable packaging innovators and look forward to the final round in Utrecht this November.

Congratulations to all fellow finalists.
